All students benefit from tutoring whether they are on level, below level, or above level. Every child can benefit from having additional time of personalized instruction. There’s only so much they can receive during the typical school day when sharing a classroom with many students.

What does a typical session provide?

Each session includes systematic and explicit instruction in phonemic awareness and phonics, vocabulary work, comprehension strategy instruction, writing, and spelling. These skills are taught using hands-on activities, multisensory techniques, literacy games, high interest books, and research based curriculum.

Will I know my child’s progress?

Yes! After the initial assessment session, we will provide a detailed overview of how your child is performing, our next steps, and helpful things to work on at home. Additionally, after every 4th session, you’ll receive a progress report.

What do parents do while students are receiving tutoring?

Students perform much better when their parents are not present. They tend to look to their parent for answers or help with instruction instead of focusing on the reading specialist. We ask that you drop them off or stay close by but unseen. Feel free to run an errand or two!
